COMMUNITY IMPACT
The heart and soul of the Rotary Club of Fairhope is raising funds to help our community.
From scholarships for students to building play yards for the kids, and supporting our local library, the Rotary Steak Cook-off brings in thousands of much-needed dollars that often change the lives of our recipients.
Funds raised from the Fairhope Rotary Steak Cookoff have provided over $700,000 of funding for local needs.
Over the last few years, we have funded or partially funded the following projects:
Support of the Fairhope Police Department’s Back to School program, which provides backpacks, school supplies, and uniforms to needy children in Fairhope schools.
Support of the Fairhope Police Department’s “Shop with a Cop” program for needy children at Christmas.
$10,000 (minimum) donation to the Fairhope–Point Clear Rotary Youth Club to supper after-school and summer programs for at-risk children through high school age.
$20,000 toward a new school bus for the Rotary Youth Club and $9,000 to add seatbelts.
$30,500 toward a special-needs playground at Fairhope Intermediate School (now Fairhope East Elementary).
$10,000 annually for college scholarships ($2,500 annually, renewable for four years) for graduating members of the Fairhope High School Interact Club.
$23,000 toward a pitching/batting cage for softball players at Founders Park.
$11,816 for playground equipment at Manley Road Soccer Complex.
$10,500 to purchase Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) kits for grades 1–3 at Fairhope Elementary School (now Fairhope Elementary West); $10,500 to purchase LLI kits for grades 4–6 at Fairhope Intermediate School (now Fairhope Elementary East); and $10,500 to purchase four 75-inch Promethean ActivPanel boards for the science classrooms at Fairhope High School.
$5,000 to purchase a gazebo for use as Fairhope’s second Walking School Bus kiosk.
$3,500 toward purchase of a gazebo to be used as an outdoor classroom at Fairhope
Elementary East.
$1,000 for hand-held radios for staff and faculty at Fairhope Middle School.
$1,750 for computer headphones for every student at J. Larry Newton School, to be used in conjunction with school-issued computers.
$1,450 for earplugs for hearing protection for Fairhope High School band members.
Funds to support the Pirate Patch Vegetable Garden at Fairhope Intermediate School (now Fairhope Elementary East).
Donations to numerous local charitable organizations.
Financial and logistical support, in collaboration with the Fairhope Sunset Rotary Club, to the Warrior Bonfire Program, a 501(c)(3) organization that sponsors weekend bonding retreats for post-9/11 Purple Heart veterans suffering with PTSD.
Purchase of a disaster response trailer, along with equipment and relief supplies, that allows our Rotary team to immediately deploy to areas affected by a natural disaster.
Annual support for PolioPlus, Rotary International’s campaign for the global eradication of polio. Since its inception in 1985, Rotarians have raised over $2.1 billion and immunized more than 2.5 billon children, reducing polio cases by 99.9%. There remain only two countries in the world where polio is endemic: Afghanistan and Pakistan
We partnered with the City of Fairhope, the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation and Blue Cross/Blue Shield to bring a new fitness court Stimpson Field Park.
